9th-12th Grade Upper School

Continuing the Journey…

  • Word.

  • Rooted.

  • Restful.

  • There is an acute need in the community for alternative approaches to upper school education. SBH offers families on Oahu a robust educational opportunity that lies between the three extremes of exclusively burdensome homeschooling, government schools, and pricey private schools.

  • The upper school years of education are specifically daunting, especially for those who homeschool, as parents realize more expertise is needed in each subject area. Partnering with SBH allows your children to be tutored by experienced and passionate teachers, in a seminar classroom atmosphere.

  • Because of our staff and relational networks, SBH is uniquely positioned to provide a quality high school education rooted in the Classical, Hawaiian, and Christian traditions.

The SBH upper school works the same way our K-8 program does — all our students are registered homeschool students with the DOE, and partner with SBH for a robust academic resource program.

2024-25 Curriculum & Program Dues

We offer a robust curriculum rooted in the Classical, Hawaiian, and Christian traditions.

9th-10th grades are required to take all 6 offered classes ($4580/year).

11th-12th grades are required to take at minimum the core classes: Music, History, Literature, & Theology ($4290/year).

Details

To ensure we are meeting the changing needs of families, we are flexible and partner closely with parents.

  • Our upper school program will be meeting Mondays, Tuesday, and Wednesdays from 8am to 2:30pm.

If students have essential online classes that meet during that time we are open to discussing how we can make alterations for your child’s schedule.

  • We will be charging $4,300 in program dues for the year or $430 per month August through May.

For our upperclassmen, 11th & 12th graders, we realize they may need other classes to complete their high school transcripts and not necessarily need the same Science or Foreign Language credits as the 9th & 10th graders. To accomodate for them, we will only require them to take our core classes: Music, Theology, Literature, and History. But they are encouraged to take all 6 classes if possible.

We will be capping our upper school class at 13 students.

  • Conventional grades will be kept for the purpose of record keeping and transcripts for college admissions.

No extracurricular’s will be provided. Extra social events will be organized by parents, not SBH.

Form 4 are invited to participate in all SBH House Events, Feasts, and Excursions.

  • As a homeschool resource program, SBH will walk alongside parents to make sure students are fulfilling requirements to complete high school and have their options open for college admissions.
